Busy bee...

It snowed last night and we have around 7in. Totally snowed in. I'm not one of those people that love to stay inside all day and neither is Camden. We got through it though. Yet, I just looked outside and it has started to snow again. Ugh! I don't want to be stuck in here again! Oh well we will make the best of it. Now, a lot of new things are about to go into effect. I don't think I've told you this before, but I work from home for my uncles company. It was so I could keep Camden out of daycare for as long as possible! Well I feel it's time for him to get a little socialization. I recently applied to Labcorp and got the job! It's an amazing opportunity and I'm pretty excited. The only downfall is having to put Camden in daycare. But, like I said I think it's time to get some socialization. He loves playing with the friends he has. I think he will do better than I will. I'm going to be a mess. He is my little sidekick. My best friend! Yet, I think I will appreciate the time I do get to spend with and not get as impatient. You know how it is when you are at home ALL THE TIME and always with your child..you sometimes need a break! But boy oh boy I'm going to miss him so so much! He is getting so big and is talking all the time. He has his own little language and then he speaks english. He can now say thank you, please, camden, daddy, kitty, dog, mommy, baby, bye bye, ball, and some more that I can't think of! I especially love when he says thank you. It could be the cutest thing in the world! It melts my heart!!

I finally chose a daycare that I felt he would expand at. It's called Little Thinkers. The directors and teachers are awesome and sweet! I took him for a little observation Thursday and Friday. We went first Thursday afternoon after nap time. His class was outside so we headed out there. At first he was unsure of everything, but then he started to loosen up. He loved it! He made a couple new lil friends. And it made me so happy to see him enjoying it. We it was time to leave, he didn't even want to leave. He cried when I was trying to put him in the car. Which I felt was a great sign. Friday morning we went again. This time was a little different. He was very clingy to me and wasn't really feeling it at all. He would play with the kids and then come back to me. It made me a little uneasy, but I know he will eventually get use to it. He ate lunch with all the kiddies and was the only kid to eat everything on his plate. Not surprising since he is like a garbage disposal. Then we left so he could take a nap at home. Monday is his first official and I'm oh so nervous. I know they are going to get so annoyed with me calling all the time. But thats my lil munchkin they have on their hands!!

About three weeks ago I had an engagement session. Eddie is one of my friends cousin. Eddie and Claire got married today, but I was unable to photograph the wedding. They are such a cute couple and have actually known each other since kindergarden. Talk about a long time!! So without futher ado...

I know I'm late, but Happy New Year! I can't believe another year has passed! I am still not in the habit of blogging everyday, hopefully this year it will stick! It has been so cold here, especially for North Carolina. Like down in the teens at night! Crazy! We even had some snow not too long ago! Camden wasn't sure about it at first, but then he loved it! I didn't think it was going to snow, so I didn't buy him boots this winter. Well when there was such a big percentage I went out looking for boots, and of course with my luck everywhere was sold out! I had to make do with what we had, so I put his shoes on, over his shoes I put plastic bags, and over the bag I put no slip socks. My poor child! It was so silly looking, but hey it worked! Next time I will make sure I'm more prepared! I have a family session to blog! I have been out of the loop and need to catch up. C'mon Jessica, it's a new year!!!

Running in circles

Last week, while I was back in Greenville for the weekend, Dee contacted me and wanted me to get some photos of her lil Jazzy in her Christmas dress and her ECU outfit. I was stoked! I love this lil girl. She is too darling! I especially loved her purple converses! I just bought Camden some black ones and I love them...I think kids look so darn cute with them on! Although, she really doesn't let me get a good shot easy. But I def don't mind working to get the pictures I do get! This time she wasn't shy...oh no..she was running wild!! Running in circles around me and Dee!! Dee had to chase her everywhere! We decided to go somewhere simple, which ended up being at ECU campus. They recently built a gorgeous fountain! I think Dee was a lil nervous that I wouldn't get any shots with the way Jasmin was running everywhere, but I was confident I got at least 1. And it turned out I got a bunch! With kids her age, she is 2, you have to have patience. And for me, I could wait all day to get "that" photo. Now on to the photos..

This past Friday I had the privledge of photographing a family of beautiful people. I have known Whitney since kindergarden. I have pictures of us playing with baby dolls and drinking from bottles. Yeah, I know, embarrassing! But it's true! We drank chocolate milk from baby bottles! Don't laugh out loud!! She asked me if I would want to take photos of her, her brothers and sister to give to their parents for Christmas. I was thrilled!! They are so much fun and such a ravishing family! I couldn't stop laughing. Water came to my eyes from laughing so hard. They wanted the location to be at the pond in Elon. And it was a fabulous choice! There were geese, ducks, and swans all over the place. I got up close and personal with the swans. They didn't mind one bit. I love swans, I think they are amazing!! I had an amazing time and can't wait to show these off. Check'em out!

Another year with wonderful family! I love this time of year when you get to see everyone that you don't normally get to see. I also love the home cooked meal! My grandmother cooks everything and it is always amazing! Camden wasn't really sure of all the people here, but he still loved everyone. What are you thankful for??

He is the cutest lil boy ever! I know everyone says that about their own child, but Camden is just so darn handsome! Yesterday while he was taking a nap, I peaked in there to check on him like I always do and I just had to get a couples shots of him. His lil arms hiding under the pillow and his head perfectly on the pillow. It was just too cute for words. The lighting in that room is horrible so I had to bump the ISO up so they are really grainy. Grain doesn't bother me too bad, sometimes. He is growing up so fast. He is already 15 months! It seems like yesterday he was just born. He is such a fast learner too! He is climbing on top of everything and I am bracing myself for when he learns to jump off. He is saying some words like: dog (he calls everything dog), fish, boo, bye bye, mama, dada, etc etc. Camden is such a boy too. He throws EVERYTHING. Anything he gets his lil..I mean big, cause they are big for his age, hands on! Maybe he is practicing to be a quarterback or something! He learned how to catch as well! He loves his grandmas! All 3 of them! Haha! He is just blooming right in front of my eyes and I love watching every minute of it!! I thought I would share the photos I took of him yesterday!

I finished editing! Yay! I love editing. It can be so relaxing, sometimes. Especially when Camden is napping and it's just quiet in here. Jackson is such a cute lil thang!! He was so good too! At first he was a lil upset, but he cheered up pretty quick! And Morgan, well of course she was good! ;o) And can we say G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!! Hello!! And I'm not just saying that cause she is my BFF. You will see for yourself! So we decided to do the photos on Saturday, since I would be back home. Well of course there was a 60% chance of rain. We were so bummed and we prayed that it would either hold out or just rain in the morning! Once Morgan and Jackson was finally ready we went on our merry way! When we were driving to the first spot Jackson was not feeling it and started crying in the car! He was kinda tired from him and Camden playing earlier. So we drive around for a lil till he fell asleep. We had to stop for gas and Morgan looked in the backseat to check on them (I brought Camden along with us) and she said "OMG Camden is holding Jackson's hand!!" So I grabbed the camera and turned around and looked. It was the CUTEST thing ever! I'm guessing when Jackson was crying Camden was trying to make him feel better. I couldn't believe it! I have the sweetest lil baby man ever! Finally, once Jackson woke up and we got to the first place, it started drizzling. You think that stopped us?? Nope! And I'm so glad we didn't get intimidated, because after about 3 minutes it stopped and the sun started coming out. I was elated! It turned out to be a beautiful day! Check it out!!

First hair cut!

I have so much to blog about, but first like I promised I wanted to share pics from Camden getting his first hair cut! You always hear how when kids get their hair cut they fight and cry and it's an awful experience. Well Camden was the complete opposite! He sat in his daddy's lap and was quiet! He smiled for the camera and he turned his head every which way Rodney (the barber) wanted him to! I couldn't believe it! I was so scared that it was going to be the worst thing ever! It took me a long time to actually want to get his haircut! Cutting his baby hair means he is no longer a baby and is now a big boy! I definitely kept some of his hair, like any mother would! Now I am so glad it was done! He looks soooo handsome!! See for yourself!

Next, like I said in my last post, I went to Wilmington to stay with my cousin for a couple of days. We wanted to take some photos at the beach of Camden, her, and her yorkie. Well Camden just wanted to run to the water! He was not interested at all at getting his photos taken! All he cared about was the water! Go figure! I think I still got some cool shots though! We had a lot of fun and I always love spending time with Malia and Alana (my cousins)! They are the best cousins a person could ask for!! Here are some photos from the past couple of days..

Sunset..

Whew, now on to today! This could be the biggest post in history! Haha!! I wanted to take Camden to the pumpkin patch to, of course, take some photos of him! There is soo much to do at the pumpkin patch here in Greenville. There are farm animals, tons of playgrounds, hayrides, corn mazes, and yes of course PUMPKINS!! I love October! There is always so much to do! The fair is also here in good ole Pitt County and I wanted to take him there. He has been to the state fair, last year, but he was only 2 months so he couldn't enjoy it like he did today! He's still too small to ride anything alone, but he got to ride a couple of rides with Pernell and I. He wasn't very sure about the Dumbo ride. And I believe he loved the potato sack slide! Yesterday my dear lil baby boy got his first hair cut! I was quite sad, because it's cutting his baby hairs and making him a lil man! And boy oh boy does he look like a lil man!! I will tell you more about the experience when I edit the photos, which will be a couple days because I am in Wilmington visiting my cousin. But I wanted to share a quick photo of him, because he looks so handsome!!

There was a 50% chance of rain Saturday. Thank goodness it didn't rain at all! It turned out to be a gorgeous day. Bright blue sky with white fluffy clouds! I had found this abandoned farm building a week ago that sits on the side of 264 heading towards lil Washington. I had told Dee about it. I told her the weeds are kinda high and every step you take 20 grasshoppers fly into the air. I took some shots there just to show her to see what she thought (which I will post later or tomorrow) and she loved it! She told me she loves old wore down buildings like that. I was in love with her already. I am all about run down places. They are so interesting, full of life and textures! My friend Whitney, whom I have known since kindergarden referred Dee to me. They went to UNC Pembroke together. Little did I know, Dee was from Cape Cod, MA. I am originally from Boston, MA. So we pretty much clicked from there. We headed over there around 4pm, it takes a lil longer to get there then somewhere in town. I had took Camden's 50 year old rocking chair, which use to be my mothers, thinking it would be a cute prop for Dee's lil girl Jasmin. When we got there Jasmin was not feeling the rocking chair so we decided to look for grasshoppers and play spiderman! It was so much fun!! She was unsure about the camera, but I think secretly she loved having her photos taken! She is so beautiful and it shows in every photo! Dee and Josh were so much fun to be around and they make such a sweet lil family!! Here are some of my favs...

Last night I had the pleasure of doing some head shots for my good friend Bambi's lil princess, Ava-Haiyes. Bambi is putting her in a beauty pagenat here in Greenville, so she needed a head shot for the photogenic category. I took Camden over to their house, because they LOVE playing with each other. Before we did the shoot, we went and got dinner at a lil Japanese restaurant in lil Washington and Bambi needed to run to Wal-mart. We got back and the kiddies just wanted to run around like lil crazy people and play! When it was time to get some shots, let me tell you we had a time!! We had to tell Ava-Haiyes to look at the camera, because there was a doggie in it (she loves doggies!). It actually worked and we got a couple of good ones. Of course, Camden didn't like that he wasn't getting the attention and was trying to get in on our fun! It was pretty hilarious! At least we got one that will be her head shot!

The other day I got the opportunity to do an E-Sess with 2 amazing people! I met Sara a couple years ago through mutual friends! She is the sweetest girl! We instantly became friends. She was dating her now fiancee, Chris. I knew they would get engaged one day. You could just see the love between them! I am so super excited that I get the chance to photograph their wedding next September! It's going to be so amazing!

I know I know..it's been a couple of days since I blogged! Well I finally finished editing Camdens 1st birthday photos! I wanted to do the Car's theme from Disney. I loved the movie and he LOVES cars! The party was back home in Burlington at my grandmothers house! There was Chick-Fil-A chicken nuggets, amazing chips, pickles, and goody bas for the lil kiddies! Oh yea and of course cake! It was delicious marble inside and vanilla frosting. And I got Camden a smash cake, which was strawberry inside and buttercream frosting! I tasted his and it was just as good! It was so funny cause when I gave it to him I thought he would just dig right in..but he didn't! He wasn't sure what to do with it. Finally he started picked at it and got a taste of it, then he really went to town!! He was covered in cake! After the cake he opened presents! He got some great things! He got tons of clothes! Let me tell you, he is going to be one stylish kid! He got polo shirts, Kenneth Cole outfits, Paul Frank hoodie, and jeans! I can't wait to dress him up and take him on a lil photo shoot! He also got books, toys, and stuffed animals. He loved the jaguar my aunt got him! He was kissing it and loving on it! I was so proud of Camden that day. He had been up since 7:45 and didn't take a nap all day until everyone left at 5:45! He was so tired, but he didn't fuss or cry! He's such a big boy! Well on to the best part..the photos...

Complicated?!

As you can see I am trying to redesign my blog. I didn't really like how I had it before. It seems to be complicated, but I know it can't be. There are sooo many other bloggers who do it themselves. So I know I can!! I might just take me a while. So just hold tight!!

This past weekend was busy busy busy!! Camden turned 1 on the 26th! My lil baby boy is growing into a toddler!! It's bittersweet. I had a party for him back in Burlington, NC at my grandmothers house! It went better than planned. We drove that morning from Greenville to Burlington, which is about 2 hours away. I tried to lay him down for a nap since his party didn't start till 2pm and we got there around 12pm. Nope. No way. No how. He would not lay down. So I just knew that it was probably going to be a rough day. Two o'clock rolls around and all the guests were arriving and Camden was just as happy as he was when he woke up that morning at 7:45am!! I couldn't believe he wasn't starting to fuss. He played with the other lil kiddies that were there. When I gave him his smash cake, he wasn't very sure about it. He loved everyone singing to him though. He picked at the cake at first and then I stuck his hand in there and he finally got it. He loved it! He opened his presents and of course the other lil kiddies wanted to help. It was great! Finally after almost everyone had left, he fell asleep at 5:30pm. Not a fuss the whole day. I was so proud of him! No one could believe how happy and well rounded he was without a nap all day! I couldn't ask for a happier, sweeter, adorable kid!

I haven't finished editing all the photos from his party, so I will give you a lil tease! Can you guess what his theme was??

No internet..no cable?? What??

Thursday evening after putting Camden to bed the TV screen went gray. I first thought that Camden must have hit something or messed something up since he always has the remote. I tried to fix it..didn't work. So I got on the internet..didn't work. I check the TV upstairs...didn't work This is not good!! What is a person to do with no cable nor internet?? I called the cable company and they said they could come out Sunday and fix it. Great, a whole weekend without internet and cable. Camden can't watch Yo Gabba Gabba or Wonder Pets?? Not to mention my cell phone messed up for the 6th time since I've had it. Stupid Nextel Blackberry. Thursday was just not my day. So I decided to pack up and go to my grandmothers house in Burlington, NC. I had to order Camdens cake anyways. His birthday is Wednesday (26th) and his party is Saturday (29th). I am so super excited and sad all at the same time. My lil baby boy is about to be 1. Where does all the time go?? I'll tell ya where it goes..it just flashes before you eyes. I'm learning to cherish every lil thing he does and every day that goes by so I can make sure I don't miss a thing.

Like I said in my first post, I have a lot of sessions to blog about. Of course they are old, but none the less are still sessions I want to share. And since the last 2 posts have been about my lil man, today I am going to post some engagement photos from a session I did a while ago. I went to middle and high school with Heather. We did cheerleading together, went to the skating rink together. Yep those were the days. In high school she met the love of her life. I know right, perfect fairy tale. Yet unlike some fairy tales, this one actually came true. They started dating our sophmore year and when she graduated in 2005 he popped the question. Of course she said yes or I wouldn't be posting this fabulous photos!! They decided to wait till they graduated college to actually get married. Pretty smart if you ask me! Heather graduated May 2009. They are married now and are both teachers. See, I told ya fairy tale come true. I had so much fun with them during this session. It was just like the old days, back in high school, except without the high school drama. ;)

Whew what an eventful day. Work went smoothly. I had a bunch of errands to run. While I was out I made a stop at Once Upon A Child. For those of you who have never heard of it it is an spectacular store with kids stuff with previous experience. Everything is softly used so most of it looks brand new. They have everything from clothes, toys, to cribs and strollers. The best part is you can take your kids stuff they don't use anymore and they buy it from you!! Help you heard me right..you get cash!! I got Camden a lil toy chair and some Polo dress shirts for when I do his big 1 year old portraits!! I can't wait!! I have sooo many ideas!! You think with everything I got him, today was his birthday instead of the 26th! Gah my lil baby is about to be a toddler! I can't believe it!

My grandmother..his grandma #2 as we call her...is getting him this uber cool tricycle. It's for 10 months and up and the first step has straps that hold him in and then it has bars on the sides for extra safety to make sure they don't fall over. It also has a a push handle so you can push him until they learn to actually ride the tricycle! It's sooo brilliant!! I can't wait to try it out with him!

And since I think blogs can be kinda boring without photos in them...today I am posting photos of Camden and his BFF! He loves her soooo much!! Sometimes a lil too much!! Haha! But she deals with him climbing on her, trying to bounce on her, and of course pulling her ears and tail!

So here begins an online journal of the path I’m taking. I want to document the scenic route and pit stops along this scary and twisted photographic path.

Okay, well, I’ve been editing a couple weddings that I have shot not long ago. I have almost done with the second one and I still have many more for the first one. I know completely backwards. Oh well. That's me...completely backwards. I have so much fun documenting these special days for fabulous couples. And boy do I mean fabulous.

I have a million and one photos that I want to blog about from past sessions. I have a maternity shoot with a dear friend, engagement portraits, and of course photos of my chunky monkey. Did I mention him yet?! Well his name is Camden Drake and he is my life. He will actually be turning 1 in 9 days and I can NOT even believe it. Time flies. He is the happiest baby in the world. Always smiling and laughing. He is the best looking kid out there!! I know I know you are thinking thats what everyone says about their child, but you will have to see for yourself. His looks will astonish you. I know it!

I am the very proud mother of the most adorable sweet lil boy. His name is Camden Drake. He is my life and my inspiration. You will see him all throughout this blog. He is the lil man baby that you can't take your eyes off of. Yup, that's him.

I am a very passionate person. Photography is my passion. I see connections between everyone and anything. I love capturing those connections. Actually taking time and pausing it in a photo to keep forever. Having my own child I understand how important it is to capture every moment. Whether it is a smile, a tear, or an attitude.

I am a very real person. I capture realness in my photos. Real smiles, real laughter, real crying, real emotions, real life. That is my style. Who wants to smile when someone says cheese? That is what you will get..a cheesy, fake photo. Natural light is the most beautiful. So why not use it? I love old, dirty, run-down places. I think they are so alluring. Vintage. Full of color. Imperfect. Life is not perfect, so I don't expect for you to be. Not every hair has to be in place. Wear your favorite 10 year old jeans with holes in them. Your child's favorite superman shirt with a stain on it. Be real and full of life. Bring your heart with you!
